It's a Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood
Sunday was a beautiful day here - very blue, sunny skies and
temperatures in the high 40's/low 50's. We made pancakes for breakfast - turns out they've imported even more ShopRite items so we now have ShopRite apple jacks, fruit loops, pancake mix, 2 kinds of mustard and Heinz ketchup. It's amazing what makes you happy when you're away from home! After breakfast we talked to Nana and Pop for a while. It was nice to get a phone call from home. After breakfast, we spent the morning cleaning since we can't go to the baby house on Sunday - changing beds, washing sheets, cleaning the bathroom, etc, etc.In the early afternoon we left for a walk to the school supply store, the toy store across the street - just to browse since most things on Republic Ave are very expensive (e.g. $65 for a
Barbie that I could by for maybe $15 at home) - and then we walked to Duman. Tim did a fair
amount of complaining about walking 2 or 3 blocks into the walk, but then after that he was a trooper, probably because we told him that if he was too tired to walk then he was too tired to go to Duman to the ball pit/climbing apparatus. We had a very nice day, got a lot of exercise and had fun watching Tim at Duman. We left the house at 1:10 and didn't get home until after 7:30 and Tim walked the whole way from Duman to the apartment without even one complaint. Since he had such a good day (a challenge for him lately) we enjoyed some time alone with him after Matt went to bed. We all had a snack and tried to watch Madagascar, but all 3 of us fell asleep long before the movie was over.Today's pictures are of Matt's feeding himself some banana for the first time, pictures of the park along the riverwalk (very stark compared to the summer) and Tim riding the paddle boats and jumping in the play area at Duman.

Hey Guys,
Wow! I am so impressed by all the walking! Good for you! I am glad to see the lovely sunshine. How much daylight do you get there? About 9 hours? It is pouring rain here. Excellent news about Matt feeding himself! Such a great accompishment!
Hang in there! You will all be home before you know it and feeling guilty about driving over to Astera after doing all that walking in Kaz!
Hugs,
Tevis, Bill and Anna
Hey Tevis,
Where are we driving to? Astera? I think you are very tired! :-)
Hi Dan,
We didn't see the Kazakh Kitchen, but we did hear the usual loud music coming from that general direction. We were walking the other way in the park to get over to Duman. We were disappointed to see all the vendors gone and the rides closed, too. We thought that the park would be a great way to kill time with Tim, but it's a little depressing since it's so desolate now.
